Nov. 13th Tabula Rasa Gaming Journal--Chasing Down the Plains Devil
I watched the latest episode of "Dexter" (great as always) when I got home Tuesday morning and then went to bed. I woke up at 5 a.m. and worked on Tony's beginning quests in the Plains. I explored alot of the map completing the quests and only died a few times thanks to being able to heal myself as I run out of sight of mobs like Striders who stop chasing when they can no longer see you. The goofiest quest was to retrieve a "periodical of questionable morality" (i.e. porno mag) so that the psycho AFS officer Nygn could get some nails for his nailgun. I also had to kill an AFS traitor and the squad he was traveling with. I'm one blood thirsty mofo. I hit level 25 after a couple of hours of playing and went to Pump 4 with Polarity Guns.

During this time someone asked Loki how long it took to get his Guardian to level 50 and he said 4 days and 23 hours. I wonder if he was the first TR player to reach the last level. I believe Falcon was the first to do it in Beta. This morning Loki was playing his level 25 Exobiologist. Tony has 3 days of playing time so far.

For one of the quests I needed to loot some parts from machines in the Lightning Field and they were near the Bane controlled CP. At least 10 Bane kept rushing out of the CP after me but I would run behind a rock formation while I was healing myself and then pick off a straggler or two as they ran back into the base. I finally started to get a few pieces of level 25 Mech armor to replace the level 23 Motor Assist I was wearing. I chose an Electric Polarity gun as a quest reward and regretted it once I found that the Striders are immune to Electric damage.

I made my way to Irendas Support CP and was looting a locked crate outside when the Bane started an attack. I healed-ran inside the Base and acquired the waypoint. I climbed up a turret walkway to snipe at the Bane and found a locked crate next to the mortar. The Plains seems to have lots of locked crates. I looted at least 20 of them this morning and only one was too high for my cipher skill. I'm even more glad for my 4 Pumps in tools.

Lowrie came online and I joined him at Geyser Creek CP and we defended against a couple of big attacks. I was surprised I only had 31 defense tokens after the attacks since it seemed like I should have more. I got great for killing a Strider named Overlord who turned out to be one of 4 Plains mini-bosses you have to kill for the ToO. Lowrie and I decided to go after the Plains Devil. But we didn't know where it was. I started feeling tired and logged off to get some sleep.

But I couldn't fall asleep so I logged back on and someone said the Plains Devil spawned in the Lightning Fields. Lowrie came back online and we went looking for the boss manta. We made several circuits of the field and killed some mantas and Bane and looted a couple of crates but the boss didn't spawn. Lowrie then feel asleep or left his computer to do something. I continued making circuits of the field and twice healed him when he was being attacked by mantas. One time I wasn't fast enough and he died, but I rezzed him. The crates respawned and I looted them several times.

Finally the Plains Devil spawned and I yelled "Wake Up!" on voice chat and Lowrie started moving again. He said he had heard me in the next room and thanked me for the notification. The Devil Lord was fighting another manta when we attacked. After a coulple of clips from our Polarity guns, the boss went down. Lowrie got credit for the kill but for some reason my quest didn't complete although I got credit for killing a ToO mini-boss. I'll looking for the Devil tomorrow morning when there aren't as many people playing.

We then decided to go into the nearby Bane garrison to get the Logos located there. We took out three mortars in front of the base and there was a big battle going on by the base forcefield. There were AFS mechs and npcs and a few players and Striders and Bane patrols coming from the forcefield. Lowrie and I both died a couple of times but we were able to rez each other and finally all the bad guys were cleared and the forcefield was down. The logos was on a hill in the base and we investigated the big building in the garrison and we could glitch into the bottom of it and see that it was an empty shell.

Lowrie and I went back to the Mt. Hellas base and I then shared the quest to kill the Red Kraken. Someone said it spawned in the middle/southeast of the Atta Field, but that is a big area. I was tired and logged off in order to get ready for work and also take a short nap. There are three CPs in the Plains so I should see alot of action defending and assaulting them. My polarity guns were starting to eat up a significant portion of my credits in order to pay for ammo, so I started using a less expensive rifle when I could. Despite seeing a couple of bugs, it seems like the Devs have done a great job with the Plains. A patch to fix alot of these bugs is on the Test Server now. Hopefully it will go live soon.
